Again Turkish attack on civil convoy going to Tishreen
Bombings on 15th of January causes several injured and at least one killed civilian
A convoy of civilians from the city of Kobani headed today to the Tishreen Dam to participate in sit-ins and demonstrations protesting against the ongoing attacks of Turkey and its armed factions on the dam, which have continued for 35 days. While the convoy was approximately 1 kilometer from the dam, Turkish warplanes conducted three airstrikes targeting near the convoy, resulting in the martyrdom of one civilian and injuries to six others. Additionally, several civilian vehicles were destroyed, in addition to two ambulances were deliberately targeted and destroyed. This attack was documented.
Approximately 30 minutes later, the civilians resumed their journey on foot and in remaining vehicles to reach the dam, intending to stage a sit-in. However, they were directly targeted again by Turkish UCAVs while camping on the dam. This was accompanied with Turkish artillery shelling on the dam structure and its surroundings, causing a massacre that claimed the lives of two civilians and injured 13 others. Several civilian vehicles were also destroyed in these attacks.
The Outcome of Turkish Violations on the 15th January
- Deliberately targeting the peaceful civilian demonstrators that resulting in a massacre against them, in an attempt to intimidate and terrorize them. Knowing that this is not the first time that the civilians have been targeted by Turkey.
- Targeting the Medical Personnel and Ambulances: Two ambulances were directly targeted and destroyed,
- The direct targeting of the Tishreen Dam structure threatens its stability, posing a risk of catastrophic collapse.
